Our guest speaker has been changed: Philip Emrich will be speaking on

Cyber Security “A Layman’s Computer Systems Management Guidelines”

This brief presentation will cover the basic principles for managing any computer system and its network access.  Anyone with administrative authority must be able to identify any change and if necessary reverse or correct a change to configuration that may potentially affect the operation of the system or the system’s users.  In addition to the principles for maintaining a system’s availability and reliability this presentation will include several specific suggestions and procedures to facilitate reliability of any system.

Philip Emrich has recently retired from an Information Technology career spanning 50 years. Much of his most recent 40 years have been primarily devoted to dealing with the evolving challenges of keeping computer systems secure, available, and reliable with the exponential growth in the number of individuals with access to computer systems and dramatic expansion of the technology through which computer systems are accessed today.

He worked with both Nick McGarity and Rags Gardner at IBM in California and in Southlake. He was a top national mainframe security expert in the IBM Systems Center.  He was a regular speaker at IBM user conventions and an instructor for other IBM Systems Engineers.  He can give insight to our members about security issues both at the corporate level and at the personal consumer level.
